Data Skills Survey and Sample
We invited data professionals from a variety of sources, including Analytics.Club members and social media (e.g., Twitter and LinkedIn), to complete a short survey, asking them about their proficiency across different data skills, education, job roles, team members, satisfaction with their work outcomes and more. Most of the respondents were from North America (68%), worked for B2B companies (79%) with less than 1000 employees (53%) in the IT, Financial Services, Education/Science, Consulting and Healthcare & Medicine (68%). Male participants accounted for 75% of the sample. A majority of the respondents held 4-year (30%), Master's (49%) or PhD (18%) degrees.

About Data Skills Scoring System:

DS3 begins with a web-based self-assessment survey that measures proficiency across five broad data science skills: business, technology, math and modeling, programming and statistics. The DS3 can be completed in less than 5 minutes. Upon completion of the survey, the participants receive immediate feedback regarding their proficiency for each of the five data science skill areas. DS3 proficiency scores range from 0 (Fundamental Awareness) to 100 (Expert).
